We are so honoured to be featured on the REAL WEDDINGS BLOG today
March 2nd dawned as a typical wet and windy Vancouver winter day.But that didn’t faze bride Katie Gove and groom Paul Griffiths, who had planned their elegant black-and-white themed wedding day to take place entirely indoors.
Katie got ready at her parents’ house with the help of her nieces and flower girls, before heading to the elegant Vancouver Club for the couple’s “first look” photos, taken by Angela Hubbard Photography. Luckily, the rain stopped that afternoon so they could head up to the club’s rooftop garden patio overlooking the city for some outdoor portraits.
In the early evening, Katie and Paul exchanged vows in a candlelit ceremony before sitting down to a gourmet dinner surrounded by family and friends. “We heard the food was good, but as everyone told us beforehand, we didn’t really get a chance to eat much of it,” says Katie. Sweets followed, including a well-stocked candy bar and a pretty carrot cake from Whole Foods. Her favourite cake since childhood, Katie also chose it because it had been her late grandmother’s specialty. As dinner was cleared and the evening got underway, the flower girls performed a song about how Katie and Paul had first met, while the dapper little ring bearer enjoyed the photo booth, showing up in about a third of all the photos. “He also stole the show on the dance floor, closing it down at 1 a.m.!” recalls Katie.
