I have been to many, many MANY weddings throughout the world in my lifetime, but I honestly have to say the 12+ hour wedding I spent photographing the Estonian wedding of Liisa and Richard was one of the most fun, cultural, AMAZING weddings I have ever been to! What a way to wrap up our 2009 wedding season.
It was very important to Liisa to have her Estonian culture captured in her wedding –
after the Estonian wedding at their church, we packed it up for our hour and a half truck out to Mission to celebrate at the family venue where her parents got married 40 years earlier. Isn’t that so special?!
a gorgeous log cabin hand built by her grandfather. It was pretty outstanding.
added bonus: trampoline!!!
and sweet props for us to use!
Part of the tradition is to play games… and many a game were played like this one where they capture the bride….
and in order for her to return, the groom is challenged by the capturers to do certain tasks
like make fruity cocktails for the thieves and interpretive dance…. OMG I have never laughed so hard in my life. Richard you are such a sport!!!!
and how fun is it for not only the band to play in leiderhosen but it was such a treat to see such a great performance… and so the night began….
tons of dancing… the Estonian colors then came out…
Liisa and Richard you two are such an amazing couple and I hope you had the wedding you always dreamed of. I feel like I only want to do Estonain weddings now it was soooo much fun!
The rain held of when we needed it to and everything was beyond amazing. My assistants and I thank you so much for having us share you day with us.
